There are 685 AI companies operating in Berlin, 78% of which are less than ten years old.3 This youthful company base is a defining feature of Berlin’s fast-evolving AI ecosystem. Reflecting this, a nationwide comparative study identified 283 AI startups in Berlin, meaning that nearly one third of all German AI startups are based in the city.4 Together, Berlin-based AI companies are estimated to generate €2.4 billion in combined revenue.5
This concentration positions Berlin as the country’s leading AI startup hub. These companies are key to turning advances in AI research into products, services, and real-world applications.
